Pearland is a city in Houston in Texas. It is the second-fastest-growing city in all of Texas and has become a prime destination for real estate. Its population has grown tremendously over the years, owing to the rapid development that has brought all the amenities one might need in a small city.

History

Pearland was named, naturally, after its huge pear plantations by Witold von Zychlinski. Pearland was initially only a fertile plain used for agriculture, but after the setting up of a post office in 1889, it started to thrive. The community was initially known as "Mark Belt".

Pearland was initially promoted and established as an ‘agricultural Eden.’ It was a flourishing agricultural county that produced large amounts of vegetable and fruit crops. In the 1940s, oil was discovered in the area due to which oil fields were set up, which brought more people in. as the population grew, pubs and bars were established, and Pearland became an important entertainment area for some time.

Of late, Pearland has grown as a largely residential area. Many families living here commute back and forth to Houston for work. It has both new, modern-style houses and old architecture as well.
